About the classes
When should I arrive for Class?
If you are signed up for a morning session please arrive around 9:45am. For an afternoon session, we recommend that you arrive no later than 1:15pm.
When you arrive check in with the office manager or a supervisor and say hello. Your lead instructor will be ready to assist with your equipment. (Rental equipment, and any adaptive equipment needed, is included in the price of the lesson.)
WHAT IF I'VE NEVER SKIED/SNOWBOARDED BEFORE?
No worries. You are in good hands. WAS introduces people to winter sports every day of the season. We have lots of wonderful and well-trained volunteers here who will welcome you and get you onto the snow with a minimum of fuss. You are in good company. We hope that in time, you will become an avid skier/snowboarder. You are going to have fun.
WHO WILL TEACH THE LESSON?
Our volunteers have taught for an average of six years. Since they do not get paid for their work, you can be sure that they are doing this because they love it. They have been selected based on not just their skiing/snowboarding skills, but for their teaching abilities as well. All have been specially trained for adaptive sports.
CAN I REQUEST A SPECIFIC INSTRUCTOR?
Not all instructors are available on all days. Our instructors and staff do their best to respond to reasonable requests, but coordinating changing demand and schedules means we have to stay flexible.
WHAT IF I HAVE SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS OR SPECIAL NEEDS?
This is what WAS is all about. We collect as much information about you before you arrive; that is the purpose of the Participant Registration Form. If you have additional instructions for us, simply inform us when you make your reservation and, of course, tell your instructors.
