Wintergreen Adaptive Sports SARS-Covid-2 Mitigation and Vaccination Policy

 Winter, 2021-2022

Adopted Nov. 23, 2021

Revised Nov. 30,2022

Revised Nov. 25, 2023

Wintergreen Adaptive Sports is a safety-first organization. Because many WAS students live with disabilities that require special precautions, our safety-first philosophy must extend to all of the W.A.S family.

 Vaccinations

Unlike previous seasons during the height of the Covid pandemic, WAS will not require all staff members and volunteer instructors to be fully vaccinated and to provide proof of vaccination at the start of the season, but we will still encourage all volunteers and participants to become fully vaccinated and to receive updated booster vaccinations when eligible. “Fully vaccinated” means a complete course of vaccinations—based on the vaccine manufacturers’ recommendations—plus two weeks to reach full immunity.

No one exhibiting Covid symptoms, regardless of vaccine status, will be permitted access to The Hut. And because vaccinated individuals, protected in almost all cases against severe symptoms, may still contract the virus, exhibit mild and moderate symptoms, and—most significantly—pass on the virus to others, WAS requires a minimum 5-day quarantine, away from our program, after a positive test without symptoms or after the last indication of any Covid-19 symptoms.

 Masking

Masks generally do not have to be worn during W.A.S. activities, with the following exception:

1.     If a parent or student requests that a WAS instructor wear a mask on a lesson, the instructor will comply.
