Thanks to our Hosts at The Devils Backbone Basecamp!

On May 20, 2017, W.A.S. will host its 5th annual "Run, Walk, and Roll" 5K Race and Fundraiser. As before, we will launch the race at the Devils Backbone Basecamp on Beech Grove Rd, and we welcome all runners, walkers, and hand-cyclists. For the second year in a row, we will use the Glenthorne Loop out-and-back course for the "Run, Walk, and Roll."

Online registration closed; register now at the event, from 8am-9:15am

Plan to join us for the mid-morning WAS 5K, which starts at 9:30am. As noted, above, we'll accept walk-up registrations on race day, beginning at 8:00am. Entry fees may be paid here online or at the event with cash, check, or credit card. For more information about how to join us on May 20th, email WAS executive director, Dave Shreve at: executivedirector.was@gmail.com.

All runners receive a Devils Backbone gift bag and coupon. For delicious food and drink, plan to join us after the race at the Devils Backbone Meadows beer garden or in the main restaurant.

Thanks to all who joined us last spring for our 4th annual 5K Road race fundraiser. We're especially grateful for our event sponsors–Wintergreen Real Estate, Contemporary Dentistry of Virginia, The Devils Backbone Brewery, Wintergreen Resort, Disabled Sports USA, and Ashley's Market, all of whom helped make the event a fun and exciting one.

Updated October 6, 2016–Thanks once again to the folks at Charlottesville's Sedona Taphouse for bringing WAS in as the beneficiary of this past July's Steak-out for Charity event. WAS executive director, Dave Shreve, joined Sedona manager, Jordon Coleman, for last week's check presentation. Thanks to Christine, Rodell, Cierra, Jordon, and all the Sedona crew for being such a great community partner!

All of us at WAS would like to thank our friends at Sedona Taphouse, for choosing us as the beneficiary of the July Steak-Out for Charity event (with a percentage of all proceeds going to WAS).

We're very grateful for the generous contribution connected to this terrific fundraising event, for the enjoyable outings to the Millmont St. taphouse, and for the many ways the Sedona Taphouse owners, managers, and staff think often about and contribute greatly to the community they serve so well. Join us again as we continue to frequent this favorite place of ours in Charlottesville, on future Steak Out Mondays, or any other time.

Special children's activities are also planned. WAS is especially grateful for the housing accommodations provided by over thirty Wintergreen resort resident families.
